Hurricanes

Well, this hurricane season has not been fun for much on anyone in the South East.  We have already had 3 storms in the keys, as Ike is approaching us now. It does not look like it will really hit us, but it does call for evacuations which means no work for 5-7 days during the storm.  It has been somewhat of an annoyance not having work or much to do.  We usually just go to the beach to kill time and read. 

Right now my room mates our on vacation so I have the storm shutters up and am waiting out the storm, got plenty of water, canned food, and beer for a week.  The best thing is Fancast, where you can watch lots of tv shows online, it has kept me occupied for much of the storm. 

I have gotten my travel plans for my next workplace.  I will be leaving Miami on October 1st, and spending a week in Atlanta/Raleigh NC, then I will spend a comfortable 40 hours on planes and in airports to go to Brisbane Australia.  It looks exciting especially with a long layover in Tokyo.  I will then stay in Brisbane for a week or so waiting out my work permit, then off to the Solomons again for a year.

I am looking forward to seeing lots of friends and family when I get to Atlanta
