Key Largo

Well I have returned safely from travels in the south pacific.  Although I am returning, as soon as I can get a work permit.  It will take about 6 weeks to get after I apply for it, I have to send a background check and other documents in order to apply.  It takes about 3 weeks to get the background check that is needed.  So I will be here for about 10 weeks.

With that said I flew into Miami jobless and homeless.  A friend picked me up and I went and caught up on some of my jet lag.  I did feel the 40 something hours of traveling.  I got to my friends apartment and took some naps and did laundry for the rest of the day.  The next day I went job hunting and got a job in about 1 hour.  I went to work with a friend that works at John Penenekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo.  I am a narrator on the glass bottom boat tours, and a dive-master on the dive and snorkel boats.  After being back for a day I now had a job and a place to live.

The job pays well, but I do have to wear what we refer to as a "Key Largo Tuxedo" which consists of a khaki fishing shirt, khaki shorts, and crocs for shoes.  I feel like the crocodile hunter in such an odd uniform.  Luckily on the snorkel and dive boats I can take it off and wear board shorts once we are on the reef.

I am working 5 days a week about 12 hours a day in hopes to save up some money before traveling.  I am living in an apartment with friends in Homestead right now, and share rides to work.  Life is simple yet very enjoyable, I have one suit case and air mattress, and dive gear.

I think I will end this with a quote "In search of the Great Perhaps," - Rabelais
